Boston Police Blotter: Gun recovered in Back Bay; fake fine scam warning
Police arrested a Boston man on gun and drug charges after he banged on someone’s door with a firearm in his waistband Friday night.
Officers arrived at a home on Huntington Ave. around 11:30 p.m. to speak to the victim who said Dawan Johnson, 47, had come to his door with a gun, according to Boston Police. The victim knew Johnson because they had a prior altercation where Johnson allegedly brandished a knife.
After speaking with the victim, officers said they knocked on Johnson’s door. They didn’t find a firearm on his person when they frisked him, but following a protective sweep of the apartment, BPD said they found a gun in an open bathroom cabinet.
Johnson and a woman in the apartment at the time of the search, Melissa Lincks-Morpeau, 44, of Boston, were both arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
During booking, police said they also found a rock-like substance on Johnson that they suspected was cocaine. Johnson also allegedly threatened to kill officers’ families after he was released while he was being processed. He faces additional charges of intimidation of a police officer and possession of a Class B substance.
Both Johnson and Lincks-Morpeau are expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.

Fake fines
Boston residents should beware fake court notices being sent out as a part of a new scam, BPD said.
The fraudulent notes may have a case number, a judge’s name, a hearing date, and even a Boston Municipal Court address and Commonwealth seal.
BPD is urging residents not to scan QR codes on these notices or submit payments without verifying that they have a ticket from the city.
The city’s official website has instructions on how to pay a parking ticket.
If a resident receives a fake notice, BPD is also asking that they report it to the department.
Incident Summary
BPD responded to 182 incidents in the 24-hour period ending at 10 a.m. Sunday, according to the department’s incident log. Those included seven aggravated assaults, two residential burglaries, one larceny from a vehicle, 15 miscellaneous larcenies, and one auto theft.
