High school roundup/scores: Shawsheen Tech claims Div. 1 North wrestling title

The Shawsheen Tech wrestling team dominated the Division 1 North Sectional field Saturday in Methuen, rolling to the title with 258.5 points.

Placing first for the Rams were Dante Giusti (126 pounds), James Tildsley (157) and Logan Holmes (190). Ethan Caceres (120) and Hadi Sibay (138) came in second place. Placing third were Tristan Lane (165), Thomas Conn (113), Kyle Dube (10 6) and Gavin Lane (132).

Headlined by first-place titles from Dylan Walker (120), Samson Xayachack (150) and Jaden Merwin, Tyngsboro/Dracut edged Gloucester for the Division 3 North Sectional title.

Boys hockey

Jack Melly scored the game-winner in overtime as Reading outlasted Archbishop Williams 1-0 in the Buddy Ferreira Classic.

Girls hockey

Maddie Cantor finished with two tallies and two assists, including her 100th career point,  as Norwell/Scituate/Abington rolled over Patriot League opponent Plymouth 8-2.

Sabrina Stone netted the overtime goal with 17 seconds left as Milton edged Malden Catholic 2-1 in a nonleague matchup. … Avery Sico recorded a shutout in net as St. Mary’s blanked Bishop Stang, 2-0, in a Catholic Central League tilt.

Boys basketball

Colby Lucas, Ryder Tartamella, and Vallon Jeanty had 11 points apiece as Nantucket won 60-31 over Cape and Islands League opponent Cape Cod Tech…Bryson Mercedes scored 20 points while Jake Lyons added 18 in Newton North’s 60-47 nonleague victory over BC High

Girls basketball

Camry Williams netted 18 points and Haleigh Adamowich backed her with 14 as Woburn (19-0) narrowly defeated Braintree, 51-50, in the opening round of the Board 27 Comcast Tournament. … Bishop Feehan and Wachusett, which have battled in the Division 1 state final the last two years, also collided in the tournament and Wachusett came away with a resounding 67-39 win behind 33 points from Jae Scott.

In nonleague action, Keyona Raines collected 24 points, 11 boards and six assists as Cathedral took down Walpole, 58-41. …  Addie Holmes-Lavallee (21 points) and McKenna Devamney (20 points) led the way as Central Catholic (8-11) routed Burlington, 70-34.

In the opening round of the Spartan Classic, Camden Strandberg scored 20 points with 13 rebounds as Bridgewater-Raynham (10-7) defeated Newton South, 51-41. … Hannah Kuriscak led with 17 points while Cece Levrault added 14 points and five steals to pace Apponequet (19-1) to a 52-49 victory over Acton-Boxboro. … Kaylee Maier (21 points), Lily White (15 points) and Kelsey Hudson (14 points) propelled Dracut past Bedford, 57-34.
