New England Revolution romp past Hartford Athletic in preseason finale

The New England Revolution concluded the preseason with a 6-1 win over USL Championship side Hartford Athletic on Saturday afternoon at the Revolution Training Center in Foxboro.

The teams played three 45-minute periods, with New England featuring five different goal scorers in Leo Campana, Carles Gil, Eric Klein, Alhassan Yusuf, and Allan Oyirwoth.

Campana opened the scoring in the 21st minute and doubled the lead seven minutes later, heading home a corner kick from Gil. In the 48th minute, Gil scored from the penalty spot to post a goal and assist performance.

Hartford converted a penalty in the 68th minute to cut into the deficit, which stood at 3-1 after 90 minutes. Revolution head coach Marko Mitrović deployed 11 substitutes ahead of the final session. Klein extended the lead in the 106th minute following a Jackson Yueill corner kick. Three minutes later, Malcolm Fry juked a defender in the box and slotted pass to Yusuf for New England’s fifth goal. Two minutes later, Oyirwoth closed the scoring with a headed goal, assisted by Ilay Feingold.
