Mike Vrabel: Patriots facing ‘critical’ stretch ahead of Super Bowl LX
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The Patriots are stressing the importance of consistency and routine as they prepare for Super Bowl LX.
In other words, to quote one of the team’s popular mantras: “Don’t change the mac and cheese.”
Maintaining that recipe will be especially important on Wednesday and Thursday, head coach Mike Vrabel said, as the team resumes its usual practice schedule at Stanford University.
“I think we try to make it as normal as it can be, knowing it’s not going to be,” Vrabel said Wednesday morning at the Patriots’ Bay Area hotel. “We try to have the same routine and keep the meeting times the same, the treatment times. These guys were able to work on Monday, have (Tuesday) off, there was a lot of activity around the hotel in the meeting room. Guys are getting together and watching tape.
“I think that’s what everybody has to do to make sure that they’re ready, and I think the next 48 hours will be critical for us as we kind of get back in our normal routine here of a Wednesday and a Thursday, and then the families come in and things start to ramp up.”

For New England’s players, most of whom are experiencing the chaos of a Super Bowl week for the first time, that means “complete focus on the task at hand,” linebacker and co-captain Robert Spillane said.
“We’re here for one reason and one reason alone, and that’s to win the game on Sunday,” Spillane said. “And our total focus is going to be to do everything we can to get ourselves to be mentally and physically prepared on Sunday.”
The 14-3 Patriots are pegged as underdogs against the NFC champion Seattle Seahawks, whom they’ll face Sunday at Levi’s Stadium.
