Two Patriots defensive starters’ status uncertain for Super Bowl
FOXBORO — Patriots defensive starters Robert Spillane and Harold Landry III did not participate in Friday’s practice, the final session of the week at Gillette Stadium before the team heads to San Francisco for Super Bowl LX on Sunday.
Spillane injured his ankle in Sunday’s AFC title game. Landry was inactive for the conference championship weekend with a knee injury that has lingered now for weeks.

Head coach Mike Vrabel was asked if he expected them to play in Super Bowl LX.
“I can’t tell you. All I can tell you is that they didn’t practice today,” Vrabel said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen nine days from now or however many days that is.”
Jack Gibbens filled in for Spillane at linebacker on Sunday, while Landry’s spot at outside linebacker was filled by Anfernee Jennings, rookie Elijah Ponder and Jahlani Tavai.
The Patriots will be off Saturday.
