Boston Police Blotter: Teen arrested on gun charges

Boston Police arrested a teen on multiple firearm charges in Dorchester Tuesday.

Officers on patrol at the intersection of Dakota Street and Washington Street saw three individuals walking at around 9 p.m.

When they approached, police said the individuals “became hypervigilant of the marked police cruiser.” An officer also said he recognized one of the individuals from a prior arrest.

After the group went into a convenience store, officers followed. They said they believed that one of the individuals might be a missing juvenile.

“As officers approached the group, one individual repeatedly looked toward his waistband,” a statement from BPD said.

Officers conducted a frisk because they said they feared one of the individuals might be armed. When an officer felt what he believed to be a gun, a struggle began as the suspect resisted being put in handcuffs, police said.

Additional officers responded to the scene, and all three individuals were detained.

A gun determined to be a Taurus G2C loaded with 12 rounds in the magazine was recovered on the suspect, according to BPD. The two other individuals were released.

The 17-year-old, who was not named in the statement because he’s a juvenile, was arrested and is expected to be arraigned at Dorchester District Court on charges of: being a minor while carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, and resisting arrest.
