2025 M5 Touring drives wagon consumers to BMW
Grasso’s Garage has reviewed over 375 vehicles and driven more brands and models than most city blocks’ population could even park, so I think you know by now which few brands and models really jump off the page for me. But what we haven’t discussed in too much detail is my long-lasting love for a wagon. We briefly outlined it when we had the recent 2025 Volvo V60 PHEV, which really delivered to consumers for many reasons. In Grasso’s Garage this week, another wagon, but with unfathomable usage, power, styling, and, most importantly, comfort!
Without further ado, I give you the 2025 BMW M5 Touring, which is available for the first time in the United States. It is hard to even write about this one, because I just want to be in the driver seat as much as possible. This wagon checks every single box.
Wrapped in Laguna Seca Blue, a variant of aquamarine, the 2025 BMW M5 Touring is the first generation wagon offering a M5 package. It’s powered by a 4.4-liter M Twin Power Turbo V-8 and a plug-in hybrid 18.6 kW battery providing 25 miles of pure electric range and combining for 717 horsepower. Weighing over 5,500 pounds, the M5 Touring offers an array of standard features as well as upgraded options. Our weeklong tester boasted the Executive Package, M Driver package and M Carbon upgrades, adding about $10K on top of the $121K base price.
With limited competition in the U.S. wagon market like the Audi RS6 and Mercedes E-450, the M5 Touring keeps the V8 powerplant and brings 738 lb-ft of torque to the table. Staggered 20- and 21-inch M Dual-Spoke wheels, black roof and accents and a Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System are just a few of the standard features on the M5 Touring.
As the owner of a very limited edition 2019 Volvo V60 Inscription with 318 horsepower, my passion for powerful wagons runs deep. It’s essentially a SUV, but with a sedan-like stance and ride height that provide that low-to-the-ground feel – one that speed junkies, like me, really enjoy, while still not giving up the space that an SUV has to offer. For the BMW M5 Wagon, just another display of excellence with outstanding power, comfort and beautiful styling – all a huge win for wagon-lovers in the U.S.
