Boston Police Blotter: Massachusetts prisoner gets decade for beating fellow inmate to death
A man who beat another inmate to death at a Massachusetts treatment center has been sentenced to a decade in state prison.
A Plymouth Superior Court jury on Dec. 17 convicted Michael Robinson, 47, of one count each of involuntary manslaughter and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon — shod foot. The charges relate to his killing Scott Wonoski, 43, a fellow inmate at the Massachusetts Treatment Center in Bridgewater, in 2021.
On Friday, a judge sentenced Robinson to 10 to 12 years in state prison.
Corrections officers at the facility responded to a bathroom a little after 10 p.m. on April 13, 2021, where they found Wonoski “unresponsive and bleeding,” according to the Plymouth DA’s office. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead.
Video surveillance showed Robinson physically assault the victim, according to a DA statement.
The Massachusetts Treatment Center is a medium-security prison housing male inmates identified as sex offenders and those who have been civilly committed as sexually dangerous, according to its state website.
Lululemon theft
Premier athleisure brand Lululemon’s exorbitant pricing didn’t keep four women away from the merchandise at the Newbury Street location in Boston’s Back Bay — the cops say that they made off with $900 worth of the clothing. That’s six to 10 items.
Police say the theft happened a little after 5 p.m. on Dec. 22. By the time police arrived, the four suspects — black females between the ages of 18 and 23 — had already gone, but they were each caught on store surveillance cameras.
Police ask that anyone who recognizes any of the suspects to contact detectives at 617-343-5619. People can provide anonymous information through the CrimeStoppers tip line by calling 1-800-494-TIPS (8477), by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463), or online at Police.Boston.gov/CrimeStoppers/.
