Vice President JD Vance posts video pushing back at ICE fatal shooting in Minneapolis

ICE is pushing back with a new video the agency says “corroborates” what they have been saying about the fatal shooting in Minneapolis.

The agency is facing blistering attack for the death of Renee Good, 37, at the scene of an ICE action on Wednesday.

Watch this, as hard as it is. Many of you have been told this law enforcement officer wasn’t hit by a car, wasn’t being harassed, and murdered an innocent woman.

The reality is that his life was endangered and he fired in self defense. https://t.co/IfXAAxi9Ql

“This footage corroborates what DHS has stated all along — that this individual was impeding law enforcement and weaponized her vehicle in an attempt to kill or cause bodily harm to federal law enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “The officer was in fear of his own life, the lives of his fellow officers and acted in self-defense. The American people can watch this video with their own eyes and ears and judge for themselves.”

ICE officers surrounded Good’s Honda Pilot SUV on a snowy street. Video taken by bystanders show an officer approaching the SUV stopped across the middle of the road, demanding the driver open the door and grabbing the handle.

“ICE law enforcement officers are trained to use the minimum amount of force necessary to resolve dangerous situations to prioritize the safety of the public and our officers. Officers are highly trained in de-escalation tactics and regularly receive ongoing use-of-force training,” McLaughlin added. “The agency’s current use of force policy is the same as it was in 2023 under President Biden’s administration.”

She said the shooting is now being “reviewed by the appropriate federal, state, local” agencies.

And, McLaughlin said, the ICE officer “has been serving his country his entire life.”

Vice President JD Vance posted the video from a new angle writing on X to “Watch this, as hard as it is.”

He added the ICE officer’s “life was endangered and he fired in self defense.”

Good’s wife, who can be seen in the video, says the couple had stopped to support their neighbors on the day of the shooting and described the mother of three as leaving a legacy of kindness.

“We had whistles. They had guns,” Becca Good said in a written statement Friday that was provided to Minnesota Public Radio.

Trump administration officials have painted Renee Good as a domestic terrorist who tried to run over an officer with her vehicle. State and local officials in Minneapolis, as well as protesters, have rejected that characterization.
