Red Sox announce key spring dates, including Truck Day and first workouts

In less than a month, the Red Sox equipment truck will begin its long journey from Fenway Park to Fort Myers, kicking off the unofficial start of the new season.

Monday morning the Red Sox announced several key dates ahead of the upcoming season. Truck Day will take place on Feb. 2, and pitchers and catchers will report to JetBlue Park on Feb. 10. The first full squad workouts will be held on Feb. 15, and the club’s annual exhibition against Northeastern University will be played on Feb. 20.

From there the club will begin its Grapefruit League schedule, starting with a date across town at Hammond Stadium against the Twins on Feb. 21. The Red Sox will also host an exhibition against Team Puerto Rico on March 3 ahead of the World Baseball Classic, and the club will hold a pair of prospect showcases, including the Futures at Fenway South game at JetBlue Park on March 14 and the Spring Breakout game against a team of Baltimore Orioles prospects in Sarasota on March 20.

The Red Sox also announced that spring training tickets will go on sale this Thursday at 10 a.m. The club’s full spring training schedule can be found online at redsox.com/schedule.
