Patriots activate Will Campbell, Milton Williams in series of roster moves

The Patriots officially activated rookie left tackle Will Campbell and starting defensive tackle Milton Williams from injured reserve Saturday afternoon.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Patriots, who already had an open spot, released veteran defensive tackle Jeremiah Pharms Jr. The team also elevated center Brenden Jaimes and defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III from the practice squad.

Williams was eligible to be activated last week after being placed on IR prior to Week 12, but the Patriots waited an extra week. Campbell was placed on IR ahead of Week 13. This is the first week he could have been activated.

The Patriots take on the Dolphins at home in their regular-season finale Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX. They’re mostly likely going to wind up with the No. 2 seed in the AFC with a win over the Dolphins, though they could still earn the No. 1 seed with a win and a Broncos loss to the Chargers.

If the Patriots lose, and the Jaguars beat the Titans, then the Patriots would wind up with the No. 3 seed.

Vederian Lowe had been filling in for Campbell at left tackle. The Patriots will have Williams, Christian Barmore, Cory Durden, Eric Gregory and Taylor available at defensive tackle with Khyiris Tonga (foot) out.

The Patriots also ruled out left guard Jared Wilson (concussion), linebacker Robert Spillane (ankle) and outside linebacker Harold Landry (knee).
