Boston Police Blotter: Resisting arrest, gun charges

Boston Police arrested a 45-year-old man on multiple firearms charges Saturday night.

Phillip Anderson of Roxbury was charged with carrying a loaded firearm (his fourth offense), possession of a firearm with an FID card, defacing a firearm serial number, and resisting arrest.

Officers responded to the area near 25 Fountain Street around 10:20 p.m. for a report of a person with a firearm. Dispatchers told the officer while they were on route that two men were fighting at the scene and one had pulled out a gun.

Police said the suspect fled towards Dabney Street. Officers who followed found a group of individuals with the suspect, and when they tried to approach them, “a violent struggled ensued as the suspect attempted to evade arrest and flee into the building,” according to BPD.

People in the group allegedly tried to pull the officers off the suspect to prevent his arrest.

While resisting arrest, officers said they saw the suspect reach into his pocket for a firearm. After Anderson was arrested, BPD recovered a Glock 30 S with an “obliterated serial number,” one round in the chamber, and seven rounds in the magazine.

Anderson is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
