Robber holds up bank in Crow Wing County community of 200

Authorities are investigating the robbery of a bank in a small north-central Minnesota town.

According to the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office, the Deerwood Bank in Garrison, population 200, was robbed at closing time Tuesday.

Sheriff Eric Klang said the robber walked into the bank around 5 p.m. while dressed in black and wearing a black gator over his or her head. The robber demanded money and indicated being armed.

Klang said bank staff did as they were trained and handed over an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect walked out; no vehicle was seen entering or leaving the bank’s parking lot.

Klang asked residents and businesses in the area to check their security and doorbell cameras for anything suspicious or out of the ordinary and call the sheriff’s office at 218-829-4749.

Klang said no injuries were reported.
