Boston Police Blotter: Teen arrested on gun charges

Boston Police arrested a teen on gun charges Tuesday night in Roxbury.

Officers said they saw the 15-year-old “running at a full sprint” in the area around Dudley Street and Warren Street around 5:25 p.m. towards Nubian Station.

The teen seemed “hypervigilant,” and he was swinging his left arm while he ran but kept his right arm held tightly against his jacket, “with his hand holding an object inside the front pocket,” according to BPD.

After exiting their cruiser, officers approached the teen and upon further investigation, performed a frisk of the individual, leading to the recovery of a loaded firearm.

BPD detectives identified the gun as a Sig P290RS, loaded with six rounds of 9mm ammunition, including one round in the chamber and the others in the magazine.

The teen from Needham is expected to be arraigned in the Juvenile Division of Boston Municipal Court on charges of carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a firearms identification card, and having a firearm with a defaced serial number.
