Mia Catarazulo scores hat trick to lead Milton over Martha’s Vineyard

MILTON – After a trip to TD Garden last March, Milton’s girls hockey team continued its hot start to the 2025-26 season with a 4-1 victory over Martha’s Vineyard at Ulin Rink.

The Wildcats added nine first-years to a squad that reached the Div. 2 final before falling to Medfield. This influx of talent has helped Milton start the season 3-0 and remain a top contender to capture the first championship in program history.

Wildcats head coach Matt Lodi praised the Milton Youth program “for molding such a successful hockey town” and a bright future for the Wildcats’ team with the quick turnaround for their underclassmen from the youth to high school level.

“It’s great to see families choose for their kids to stay local and play for the high school rather than leaving for the prep route,” Lodi said.

This Bay State Herget-Cape & Islands matchup started slow with even possessions in the Vineyarders’ and Wildcat zones until Milton freshman Mia Catarazulo snuck one in the upper right corner to have the ‘Cats take the lead at the 12-minute mark in the first period.

The Vineyard offense broke out in speed, putting more pressure past the Milton blue line at the halfway mark of the first. The Vineyard kept a long possession in their attacking zone, leading to a game-tying goal from Hannah Wansiewicz 14:23 into the first. After this Vineyard goal, Lodi’s squad had the momentum for the remainder of the game.

A strong performance from goalie Caera Hart made sure any chance of a Vineyard comeback didn’t spark, while freshman Maeve Lovett scored the go-ahead goal before two more from Catarazulo sealed the win. Catarazulo notched her first career hat trick and is now up to five goals on the season.

Martha’s Vineyard will look to turn around against Scituate at home on New Year’s Eve as the Wildcats look to remain undefeated against Bishop Feehan in the Tenney Cup on Dec. 27.
