Patriots inactives: Four defensive starters active after missing practice time
BALTIMORE — Four Patriots starters who missed practice time will be active Sunday.
Not listed among the Patriots’ inactives Sunday night against the Ravens are cornerbacks Marcus Jones and Carlton Davis, outside linebacker Harold Landry and defensive tackle Christian Barmore, all of whom missed practice time this week.
The Patriots will be playing their second straight game without a top starting defender, however.
Linebacker Robert Spillane is among the Patriots’ inactives. He was ruled out on Friday with an ankle injury.
Spillane was active in last week’s loss to the Bills but didn’t take the field. Head coach Mike Vrabel said he was only active as an emergency.
“I just think it was just to see what we can get, see whether he was going to be able to do it or if he was going to be in an emergency role,” Vrabel said last week. “There’s not a lot of depth there outside of him, and could have had a few guys up, but didn’t think that that was really going to make an impact on the game day roster. It felt like, whether it’s the sixth outside linebacker, the sixth receiver, the fourth tight end or whatever it may have been, I just didn’t feel like that that was going to make that much of a difference or a difference at all.”
Defensive tackle Milton Williams and left tackle Will Campbell remain on injured reserve.

Here’s the full list of inactives:
QB Tommy DeVito (emergency third QB)
LB Robert Spillane (ankle)
OT Marcus Bryant
TE CJ Dippre
WR Efton Chism
Some notes:
• DeVito can only enter Sunday night’s game if Drake Maye and Joshua Dobbs both suffer injuries. He would need to leave the game if either player was cleared.
• Spillane was downgraded to out on Friday. The Patriots have Christian Elliss, Jack Gibbens, Marte Mapu, Jahlani Tavai and Chad Muma to fill in for him. Muma was just signed off the Colts’ practice squad this week. He could see time on special teams.
• Bryant is a healthy scratch for the third straight week. Tackle Thayer Munford, guard/tackle Caedan Wallace and guard/center Ben Brown will back up left tackle Vederian Lowe, left guard Jared Wilson, center Garrett Bradbury, right guard Mike Owenu and right tackle Morgan Moses.
Head coach Mike Vrabel said Sunday that there’s nothing going on with Bryant.
“Just decided to go with Thayer,” Vrabel said. “He’s helped us out a lot and it’s a good jumbo package. Marcus is working hard. We take eight to the game, we try to figure out what combination is best for each game. That could change next week, but Marcus has worked hard, and again, I think trying to improve.”
• Dippre has yet to make his NFL debut since being signed off the practice squad Nov. 17. Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper and fullback Jack Westover are available at tight end. As Vrabel mentioned, Munford can also play as a jumbo tight end.
• Chism is back on the inactive list for the second straight week. He had previously served as the Patriots’ kick returner. Fellow rookie wide receiver Kyle Williams and veteran running back D’Ernest Johnson filled that role last week against the Bills.
