Brown University shooting update: Police seek individual to interview
Providence Police released new photos Wednesday of an individual they say they would like to speak to as they search for the person responsible for the deadly shooting at Brown University over the weekend.
“Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying and speaking to the individual shown in these photos, who was in proximity of the person of interest,” a Providence Police spokesperson said.
The still images show a person wearing dark pants and a light hoodie underneath a blue jacket.
The person is seen walking through someone’s yard, carrying what appears to be a canvas tote bag. The person appears to be in the area just east of Brown’s campus, where the person of interest was seen just before the shooting took place.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the tip line at 401-272-3121, police said.
The new photos come a day after law enforcement published video of a person of interest in the case. The compiled footage was spliced with maps showing the suspect’s route through College Hill before and after Saturday’s shooting.
The suspect was wearing dark clothing, a black and green jacket, black beanie, and black mask. In some instances, he could be seen wearing a satchel, and in others, the bag is gone. At times, the suspect strolls through a neighborhood right next to Brown’s open campus, and in one clip, he can be seen running through the frame.
Police believe the person of interest is the shooter who killed two students and injured nine others at an introductory economics study session Saturday afternoon.
