2026 Subaru Uncharted Undercuts Solterra With 300+ Mile Range and $35K Starting Price

Subaru’s EV family is growing fast, and the newest member is also the most budget friendly. The 2026 Subaru Uncharted arrives as the brand’s smallest electric SUV, with a lineup that starts at $36,445 and tops out a little north of $45K. That pricing neatly undercuts the equally powerful versions of the Solterra, yet still delivers the kind of power, range, and all-weather capability Subaru shoppers expect. In other words, this is not just a cheaper EV option, it is Subaru quietly repositioning the entry point into its electric lineup.

The hook for value hunters is the Uncharted Premium FWD. It is the only front wheel drive Subaru in decades and uses a single electric motor rated at 221 horsepower, paired with a pack sized in the mid 60 kWh range that Subaru estimates can charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 28 minutes on a DC fast charger. The real headline number is range, with Subaru estimating more than 300 miles on a full charge, giving the base Uncharted the longest legs in the lineup. Subaru says the front drive configuration will be built in limited numbers, which should only make it more appealing to buyers who like the idea of a lightly rare spec that still comes loaded with gear like 18 inch wheels, a 14.0 inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a 10 way power driver’s seat, and a power liftgate.

Most buyers, though, are likely to look at the all wheel drive Uncharted Sport. Priced from $41,245, it adds a second motor for a stout 338 horsepower, matching the output of the hotter Solterra variants while trimming the sticker compared with that SUV. You give up some range compared with the Premium, but Subaru still expects around 285 miles on a charge, which is solid for a dual motor compact EV. The price bump of roughly $4,800 over the base model does not just buy traction and power either. The Sport trim layers in extra kit like a 360 degree camera system, a digital rearview mirror, a heated steering wheel, a power front passenger seat, faux leather upholstery, and roof rails that fit nicely with the Uncharted’s adventure branding.

At the top of the tree sits the Uncharted GT, which starts at $45,245 and leans harder into the premium EV space. It uses the same 338 horsepower dual motor setup as the Sport, with an estimated range closer to 270 miles thanks to larger rolling stock and added equipment. In return, buyers get a much richer cabin and more visual drama. Subaru swaps in 20 inch wheels, upgrades the audio to a Harman Kardon system, adds a panoramic sunroof, and fits ventilated front seats plus heated rear seats, making the GT feel more like a compact luxury EV than a stripped back outdoorsy runabout. An available two tone paint scheme should also help it stand out in a crowded crossover parking lot.

What really makes the Uncharted interesting is how it reshuffles Subaru’s electric hierarchy. The Sport and GT trims offer the same 338 horsepower headline as the 2026 Solterra XT, yet the Uncharted’s pricing undercuts that larger SUV while delivering more than competitive range and similar tech. Under the skin it shares a lot with Toyota’s latest EV architecture, but the personality is pure Subaru: practical, slightly quirky, and tuned for real world usability more than spec sheet bragging. For shoppers who liked the idea of a Solterra but wanted something a bit smaller, a bit cheaper, and in some cases able to go farther on a charge, the 2026 Subaru Uncharted looks like the sweet spot in the brand’s growing EV lineup.
