Boston Weather: Region in for more icy weather, snow in coming week
The Boston area can expect more freezing temperatures heading into the next week, with a couple more chances for snow in coming days, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“There’s certainly going to be some colder conditions coming in,” said NWS meteorologist Matthew Belk. … “Monday night and Tuesday are going to be really chilly as we get another burst of arctic air. High temperatures on Tuesday will struggle to get above freezing.”
The week is expected to kick off with another bitterly cold day Monday, with a high in the mid-20s and wind gusts up to 23 mph, NWS forecasts. Conditions should remain sunny throughout the day, and temperatures are forecasted to drop into the teens during the night.
Skies are likely to turn increasingly cloudy Tuesday, as the high warms into the mid-30s, forecasts show.
“High pressure arrives Monday and Tuesday,” said Belk. “And then Tuesday night and Wednesday, there’s another low pressure moving from the Great Lakes into the St Lawrence Valley, and that could swing a couple of fronts across our our way midweek, with our next chance for some rain or snow.”
NWS forecasts show a chance of snow and rain Tuesday night, and more rain likely Wednesday through the nighttime. The snow isn’t likely to accumulate around Boston, Belk said.
“We warm up midweek to near normal levels for Wednesday, Thursday, before we start trending colder again Friday into next weekend,” said Belk.
Temperatures are expected to climb to the mid-40s on Wednesday, NWS states, with more gusty wind blowing through. Thursday is likely to reach the low 40s, as skies turn mostly sunny through the day, forecasts show.
