Gophers dismiss defensive line coach Dennis Dottin-Carter

The Gophers dismissed defensive line coach Dennis Dottin-Carter after one year in that role, a source confirmed to the Pioneer Press on Friday.

The Gophers had reshuffled its defensive staff for the 2025 season. In addition to Dottin-Carter, safeties coach Danny Collins was promoted to defensive coordinator and Mariano Sori-Marin was elevated to linebackers coach. Nick Monroe remained the U’s cornerbacks coach.

During the regular season, the Gophers were 41st in the nation in total defense, allowing 342 yards per game and 58th in scoring defense, giving up 23.4 points per game. The U was tied for ninth in the country with 35 sacks.

Dottin-Carter was promoted to D-line coach last February after Winston DeLattiboudere became the Arizona Cardinals’ D-line coach in February. Dottin-Carter initially joined the U staff as the rush ends coach in January 2025.

The news was first reported by ESPN.
