Boston Police Blotter: Eastie residents harassed by knife-wielding man

A Roslindale man is facing serious charges after the Boston Police Department says they caught him with a stash of more than a half pound of hard drugs — including fentanyl.

Jefrey Candelario, 30, faces charges of trafficking both Class A and Class B drugs as well as reckless endangerment of a child.

Police say that they tracked Candelario leaving a suspected drug trafficking apartment on the first block of Adams Street in Hyde Park Wednesday. They stopped his vehicle and arrested him. With him in custody, the police, warrant in hand, then searched the apartment and allegedly found 118 grams of cocaine, 102 grams of crack cocaine and 31 grams of fentanyl.

Police say they also found suspected drug trafficking paraphernalia, including a digital scale, “drug manufacturing material” and nearly $1,100 in cash, which they suspect to be drug trafficking proceeds.

Man harasses people with knife in Eastie

Deigo Bautista-Perez, 36, of East Boston, is under arrest and facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of disorderly conduct after some alleged threatening behavior.

The BPD reports that its officers responded to the 100-block of Orleans Street in East Boston a little before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday following a call reporting a man with a knife. The department reports that officers immediately located Bautista-Perez at the scene.

Two people stepped forward on Orleans Street to report that the man had approached them and scraped the knife on the sidewalk. The pair fled and he pursued, they said. Police say that Bautista-Perez also swung the knife at and attempted to stab a third victim. No one was injured in either interaction, the police say.

Incident summary

The BPD reports that its officers responded to 190 incidents in its report ending at 10 a.m. Saturday. Those include one robbery, five aggravated assaults, one residential burglary, four thefts from a vehicle, two auto thefts and 16 instances of miscellaneous larceny.
