J.J. McCarthy is in the concussion protocol. What does that mean for the Vikings?

J.J. McCarthy has been placed in the concussion protocol by the Vikings. He reported symptoms on the team’s flight home to Minnesota in the aftermath of the Vikings suffering a 23-6 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

McCarthy completed 12 of 19 passes on Sunday for 87 yards while being intercepted twice. He was sacked five times in the loss.

If McCarthy doesn’t clear the concussion protocol, Max Brosmer would be the starter for the Vikings against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field. He’s been the backup for the Vikings ever since Carson Wentz was placed on injured reserve.
