Happy birthday, Marines
The Menino Convention and Events Center saw more than 2,000 current and former Marines gathered on Thursday to recognize the United States Marine Corps’ 250th birthday with a ceremonial cake cutting and celebrations.
The first piece of cake was given to the oldest Marine present, Louis Tanzer.
The Marines were founded on Nov. 10, 1775, by the authority of the Continental Congress during the American Revolution.
Washington D.C. celebrated the birthday with a 250th Birthday Ball on Saturday, with Vice President JD Vance addressing the crowd.
Vance is the first Marine to hold the vice presidential office.
