Boston Weather: ‘Cold and bitter wind chills’ forecast for Veterans Day
The Boston region is in for a few showers and a cold front incoming in the next week, with Veterans Day looking to be a bitterly cold and windy day, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“Dress for the weather,” NWS meteorologist Bryce Williams recommended to people looking to get out on Veteran’s Day. “It’ll be one of the coldest days we’ve had in a while.”
Monday is expected to kick off the week with patchy fog in the morning and rain, as showers continue from Sunday night. The day is expected to be the warmest of the week, with a high in low 60s, NWS forecasts.
A chance of rain is expected to continue into the evening, before skies gradually become mostly clear Monday night, according to forecasts. Temperatures are expected to start to drop that night, NWS states, reaching a low in the low 30s as gusty winds kick in.
“Following that, we will have a cold front that moves through and brings much colder air for Tuesday, along with some gusty winds,” said Williams. “And the rest of the week looks to be mostly dry, occasionally breezy, with slightly below average temperatures.”
On Veterans Day, skies are forecasted to remain mostly sunny and temperatures are likely to reach the low 40s.
“We’re looking at wind gusting anywhere from 25 to 35 miles per hour during the afternoon,” Williams said. “And so even though the high temperature is going to be in the low 40s, it’s going to feel more like low 30s.”
Williams encouraged people to “check the weather forecast ahead of time before heading out and make sure you’re dressed appropriately for those cold and bitter wind chills.”
Tuesday night is expected to drop into the low 30s, as wind chills continue, forecasts show.
Wednesday may have a “slight chance of rain between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.,” NWS states. The day is expected to remain mostly cloudy, as the high reaches into the upper 40s and the low dips into the high 30s.
