Boston Police Blotter: MBTA looking for man suspected of rape
The MBTA Transit Police are looking for a man they suspect of rape and strangulation.
The police issued a wanted poster for a man named Jon Brent Dyer, 58. The poster describes him as 6-feet tall and weighing 185 pounds.
A statement provided by police included no details of the alleged assault other than that it took place at Widette Circle in Boston on Sept. 26.
The Transit Police ask that anyone who knows of Dyer’s whereabouts to contact investigators at 617-222-1050. If you see him, police ask that you call 911 or 617-222-1212.

‘Notorious’ thief
The Boston Police Department say that a “notorious thief” with several prior convictions for larceny walked out of the Prudential Center Mall at 800 Boylston St. with $1,140 worth of stolen clothing in his backpack.
The cops were alerted that a “known shoplifter” was inside one of the stores. The suspect was described as a black man, about 50 years old, and wearing a plaid hat, glasses, a beige sweater, and jeans and was stuffing merchandise into his black backpack.
When cops arrived they say they found Efrain Rivera, 54, of Boston, fleeing on foot in the direction of Huntington Avenue. They found him and arrested him. He is charged with shoplifting and being a common and notorious thief since this wasn’t his first time.
Commercial burglaries
The BPD is looking for a man who keeps stealing from downtown-area businesses. He may be the same man responsible for burglaries at Boston University, the city of Cambridge and at Northeastern University as police departments for each have reported similar burglaries.

Each has involved a person using a pry tool to enter businesses during overnight hours.
A surveillance video obtained from the site of one of the burglaries, and shared publicly by the BPD, depicts a relatively heavyset black man with a prying tool in hand enter a hallway through an exit door, pull a lower-face mask down and look through the window of another door before moving down the hall. In the video he is wearing an off-white winter jacket over a black and gray sweater, as well as blue jeans and a gray hat. He had a black backpack with blue trip.

The BPD did not issue a public journal detailing incident responses and arrests for the 24-hour period leading up to Friday at 10 a.m.
