For the second consecutive year, no Red Sox players were honored as Silver Slugger recipients.

Major League Baseball announced this year’s American League winners on Friday night, and Alex Bregman, Boston’s only finalist, came up short in his bid for a second career Silver Slugger honor.

He lost out to Cleveland Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez, who took home the honor for the sixth time.

While the Red Sox ranked seventh in MLB with 4.85 runs per game, the club did not have many standout individual performers, often relying on platoons and creative lineups to manufacture runs.

Bregman batted .273 with 18 home runs and an .821 OPS, but was limited to 114 games thanks in part to a quad strain that sidelined him for seven weeks. Trevor Story was the club’s most productive offensive contributor over the full season, hitting 25 home runs with 31 stolen bases over 157 games, but he only had a .741 OPS and was not among the three AL finalists at shortstop.

The last Red Sox player to win a Silver Slugger was Rafael Devers in 2023.
