Canada October 2025: Toyota (+17.4%), Subaru Forester (+110.7%) stand out
The new model pushes Subaru Forester sales up in October.
Note: This post only features automakers still reporting sales monthly. Most now report quarterly.
Local consultancy DesRosiers Automotive estimates the Canadian new car market off -1.8% to 159,000 units, keeping in mind October 2024 was boosted by rushed sales in Quebec before government green car incentives were reduced. So we have a solid month at hand. Indeed the SAAR stands at 1.94 million, the strongest since Q1.
Among the OEMs still reporting monthly, Toyota Motor (+14.6%) clearly stands out whereas Hyundai-Kia (-0.2%) and Honda Canada (-12.3%) drop. As for brands, Toyota (+17.4%) does even better by itself, with Genesis (+14.8%), Volvo (+10.8%) strong and to a lesser extent Acura (+2.4%), Subaru (+1.1%) and Mazda (+0.1%). Honda (-13.7%) is hit hardest, Hyundai (-0.8%) and Kia (-0.7%) are stable while Lexus (-4.9%) struggles.
The Toyota RAV4 (+9.5%) is solid unlike the Honda CR-V (-9.3%) just as the Hyundai Tucson (+71.1%) continues to register extravagant growth. The Subaru Forester (+110.7%) does even better with the Toyota Tacoma (+87.8%), Kia Seltos (+64.2%) and Mazda CX-5 (+38.1%) also posting very strong gains. Further down, the Toyota 4Runner (+1068.2%), Volvo XC90 (+125.3%) and Toyota Sienna (+100.9%) also impress.
