Taiwan October 2025: Honda (+52.7%), CMC (+25.9%) stand out in shy market
The HR-V helps push Honda to #2 brand in October.
In early September, the Taiwanese government extended the NT$50,000 reduction in commodity tax for trade-ins, and further increased the reduction to NT$50,000 for passenger cars under 2.0 litres, coupled with the proposed extension of the exemption of license plate tax for electric vehicles to 2030. This results in a +3.9% year-on-year increase of sales in October to 34,511 units. The year-to-date tally remains however in frank negative at -12.4% to 330,648. Toyota (-0.2%) is stable and lodges a strong 31% share vs. 30.5% so far this year. Honda (+52.7%) is euphoric in 2nd place with 7.5% share compared to 5.3% through October. Lexus (-5.5%) struggles unlike CMC (+25.9%) and Hyundai (+12.5%) below. BMW (+13.5%) is the only additional gainer in the Top 10. Tesla (-95.9%) falls to just 21 sales.
Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla Cross (+14.7%) remains ultra dominant at 11.6% share, distancing the Toyota RAV4 (-6.6%) and Yaris Cross (+4.7%). It’s another splendid month for the Honda HR-V (+170.3%) up a further two spots on September to #4. It overtakes the new CMC J Space confirming its success at 3.7% share. The Corolla Altis (+79.2%) and Town Ace (-48%) make it 5 Toyotas in the Top 7. Excellent performances also by the Ford Focus (+45.6%) and Mitsubishi Delica (+20.3%). The new MG G50 Plus climbs 11 ranks to #24.
