Ecuador June 2025: Kia (+31.6%) knocks Chevrolet (-27.9%) out

The Kia Sonet is #2 in Ecuador in June.

Note: April and May data is also included in this article.

After gaining 14.2% in April and 21.4% in May, the Ecuadorian new vehicle market confirms it is on the mend in June with sales up 17.2% year-on-year to 10,019. However due to a difficult start of the year, the H1 volume remains in negative at -3.3% to 55,342 units. Kia (+31.6%) surges ahead to 17.1% share, confirming its newfound domination over Chevrolet (-27.9%) in complete freefall. If continued to the end of the year, as it currently seems likely, Kia could end 30 consecutive years of #1 by Chevrolet. GWM (+89.8%) posts the biggest gain in the Top 10 and ranks #5, with JAC (+55.4%), Suzuki (+48.2%), Hyundai (+44.8%) and Toyota (+44.3%) also vastly beating the market. BYD (+288.9%) is the most dynamic of all and climbs 8 spots on May to #11. It ranks #16 year-to-date (+198%).

Over in the models charts, the Kia Soluto is head and shoulders above the competition with 8.2% share, selling more than double any other vehicle in the market. The Kia Sonet is up to 2nd place with 3.9% share, dislodging the Chevrolet D-Max down to 3.8% share vs. 5.2% over H1. The Chevrolet Groove and GWM Poer complete the Top 5 ahead of the Kia Sportage, Toyota Hilux and Kia Seltos.
