Mass Pike westbound shut down in downtown Boston due to EV fire

The Mass Pike westbound in downtown Boston is locked down due to a fire in an electric vehicle.

MassDOT reports I-90 westbound is closed at mile marker 133 “due to a vehicle fire.”

The State Police add: “This morning shortly after 7 a.m., Troopers and Boston Fire responded to a car fire on I-90 west just beyond the Prudential Tunnel. Several vehicles also struck debris in roadway as part of the scene.

“For the safety of motorists and first responders, officials closed the roadway and All diverted traffic.

“Boston Fire advised State Police that the engulfed vehicle is electric and will take several hours to extinguish.”
