St. Paul Park names four finalists for city administrator

Four finalists have been named for the position of city administrator in St. Paul Park.

The four candidates, chosen following a screening of 12 applicants, will be interviewed by the St. Paul Park City Council and a number of staff and community members on July 14. The advertised salary range is $130,000 to $150,000.

Kevin Walsh, St. Paul Park’s current city administrator, is resigning July 29.

The finalists include:

Jason Baker, who has served as city administrator/treasurer of Oronoco since March 2024. He previously served as a patrol sergeant with the Alcester (S.D.) Police Department and as a patrol and field training officer with the South Dakota State University Police Department.

Joel Erickson, who has served as the city administrator of Lonsdale, Minn., since 2004. Prior to that, he served as city administrator of Eagle Lake, Minn., and Hector, Minn.

Hugo McPhee, who has been a consultant with the Center for Public Safety Management for six months. He previously served as the deputy city manager of Burnsville; as the executive director of the state’s Private Detective and Protective Agent Services Regulatory Board and as the director of public safety of the Three Rivers Park District.

Cathleen Reynolds, who most recently served as the interim city administrator/clerk/treasurer of Crosby, Minn. Prior to that, she served as the city administrator of Credit River, Minn., the city administrator of Fairmont, Minn., and as the operations manager of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District.

Bart Fischer of David Drown and Associates is coordinating the search. The St. Paul Park City Council approved a contract for $24,000 for the full search process.
