Austria June 2025: Cupra breaks records again, Tesla Model Y #1

Cupra breaks its monthly volume record in June.

The Austrian new car market drops a harsh -9.2% year-on-year in June to just 27,868 units. Yet the H1 2025 volume is in positive at +5.9% to 143,051. Volkswagen (-29.8%) is hit hard but stays atop the brands charts with 12.9% share vs. 14.1% so far this year. In contrast Skoda (+41%) surges ahead in 2nd place. BMW (+3.3%) and Audi (-6%) follow just as Cupra (+47.4%) threepeats at a record #5, equalling its share best at 5.3% and posting a new all time high monthly volume at 1,467. Renault (+29.7%) and Toyota (+22.6%) also impress in the remainder of the Top 10 while Tesla (+19.6%) is actually up at #7 with 4.5% share vs. 2.4% YTD where it ranks #15.

Over in the models charts, the Tesla Model Y (+55.2%) posts a splendid result and snaps the pole position for the first time since last September. It now ranks #5 year-to-date vs. #3 over the Full Year 2024. The Skoda Octavia (-1.9%) is toppled to #2 but stays at #2 over H1. The VW Golf (-63.8%) is completely obliterated at #3 and falls -42.8% over the first 6 months of the year. Another excellent ranking for the Cupra Leon at #4 and despite sales off -8.9% YoY. The Skoda Karoq (+76.2%), Toyota Yaris/Cross (+35.5%), Seat Ibiza (+29.7%) and Skoda Fabia (+18.5%) all impress below while the new Skoda Elroq breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #10.
