New Caledonia (France) First Half 2025: Sales off -41.1%, Subaru (+1.4%) island of growth

The Subaru Crosstrek is inside the New Caledonian Top 10.

The New Caledonian new car market continues to implode in 2025 with H1 volumes cratering -41.1% to just 1,576. Toyota (-63%) easily keeps the lead of the brands charts but sees its market share sink from 22.4% to 14%. In contrast Renault (-14.7%) progresses from 7.6% to 11% and Ford (-12.6%) from 5% to 7.5%. Suzuki (-47.3%) is down two spots on a year ago to #4 with Citroen (-25.6%) the best-selling French carmaker at #5. Peugeot (-39.8%) and Hyundai (-35.6%) follow while Dacia (-53.8%) is in dire straits and falls four ranks to #8. Subaru (+1.4%) is the only YoY gainer in the Top 10, joined below by BYD (+15.4%), BAIC (+600%) and Dongfeng (+23.5%).

Model-wise, the Toyota Hilux (-72.3%) keeps the lead but slices its market share in two to 5.2%. The Dacia Duster (-40.4%) stays in 2nd place with an unchanged 3.7% share, while the Ford Ranger (+12%) leaps up to #3 ahead of the Suzuki Jimny (-3.5%) and Renault Master (+12.2%). The Suzuki Swift (-63.6%) is down three ranks to #6 just as the rest of the Top 10 is entirely in positive: the Renault Kangoo is up 31.3%, the Mitsubishi ASX up 20%, the Subaru Crosstrek is stable and the Forester up 9.4%.
