Four men held without bail after masked pre-Fourth jewelry store robbery

Four men from out of state were arraigned before a Essex County Judge on Tuesday and held without bail over allegations they robbed a North Andover jewelry store and led police on a high speed chase just ahead of Independence Day.

Held ahead of a dangerousness hearing are Yire Abreu, 24, of Bronx, New York; Angel Carrasco, 21, of Beaver Meadows, Pennsylvania; Jarol Ledesma, 22, of Brooklyn, New York; and Wilfred Mordan, 21, of Hazelton, Pennsylvania. According to Essex DA Paul Tucker’s office a further pair of suspects are still at large.

According to Tucker’s office, on July 3 police were called to Chickering Road in North Andover over reports that multiple armed and masked men were robbing Milos Joyeria, a jewelry store.

The alleged defendants and two at large suspects fled the scene and led police on a chase along Route 125, according to Tucker’s office. The group then allegedly made their way onto I-495 and into Lawrence, where they ditched the vehicle and attempted to flee into the woods.

“Four of them were found and arrested by Lawrence Police. Two suspects remain wanted by authorities,” Tucker’s office said in a press release.

The arrested men face a range of charges, including armed and masked robbery, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, among other allegations.

Carrasco also faces five counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.

All four men have pleaded not guilty to those charges and will be back in court on June 14 for a detention hearing.
