Fourth of July expected to be sunny, ‘pretty comfortable day’ in Massachusetts
For those looking to get outside and celebrate, Boston should be in for a warm and sunny Fourth of July, according to National Weather Service forecasts.
“It actually looks like a pretty nice day,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Dellicarpini. “High temperatures (Friday) in the low to mid 80s and a lot less humid. Pretty comfortable day outside.”
The holiday is expected to be sunny with temperatures slightly lower than the last few days at a high of 83 degrees and a low 62 degree Friday night. A light northwest breeze is expected to blow throughout the day.
The Fourth of July last year was similar in temperature, with a high of 85 degrees, but the humidity was higher, Dellicarpini said. The lower humidity this holiday should make for “very comfortable conditions.”
For those watching fireworks shows in the Boston area Friday night, the clear skies should make for good visibility, according to forecasts.
“As we get to about to eight, nine o’clock, it’ll be dropping down into the 70s,” said Dellicarpini. “So probably about 70 to 75 degrees during the fireworks and fairly light winds too. So it looks pretty favorable.”

Despite the severe thunderstorms watches in the area through Thursday night, Friday appears clear from most weather hazards. Those celebrating outdoors in the area should remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen and take breaks out in the heat throughout the day.
“The storms that are moving through (Thursday) will be well out of here, so just going to be a nice, sunny day,” said Dellicarpini. “So I would say, obviously, remember the sunscreen and otherwise enjoy the day.”
