Finland June 2025: Volkswagen #1 for 1st time in 4.5 years, Kia Ceed signs 1st win

The Kia Ceed is the best-selling car in Finland in June.

The Finnish new car market is up year-on-year for only the 2nd time in 2025 after last April, with sales progressing 10.9% to 7,290. Keep in mind June 2024 was a particularly low comparison base with volume down -26.7% on the year prior. H1 results are in negative at -4.5% to 36,573. This month Volkswagen (+67%) surges ahead to snap the brands pole position off Toyota (-11.3%). This is the German brand’s first monthly victory in Finland since December 2020. Kia (+61.3%) also stuns and advances to #3 with 12.3% share vs. #4 and 8.7% over H1. Skoda (-6.1%) and Volvo (-21.5%) can’t capitalises on the market growth and close out the Top 5 in poor fashion. Audi (+60.1%), BMW (+16.7%) and Ford (+12.3%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 whereas Tesla (-39.2%) implodes here too. Renault (+229.5%) continues to shoot up as does Polestar (+144.6%).

Model-wise, the Kia Ceed (+105.3%) brilliantly scores its first ever Finnish win with 5.3% share vs. 2.5% YTD, eclipsing its previous best of #2 reached in September 2022. Still leader year-to-date, the Toyota Yaris (+70.4%) also registers a splendid YoY evolution and repeats at #2. The VW T-Cross comes from nowhere to land directly at #3, earning a spot in the H1 Top 30 as a result at #24. The Toyota Yaris (-16%) is down three spots on last month to #4 and the Corolla (-44.8%) down two to #5. Outstanding performances by the Volvo XC60 (+82.4%), VW Taigo (+612.5%) and Renault Clio (+661.9%). The new Skoda Elroq signs a third straight month inside the Top 10 at #9. The Tesla Model Y is down -28.1% and the Model 3 -52.9%.
