Massachusetts man killed his mom’s partner after fighting over steak, stabbed him 17 times: DA
A local man is accused of killing his mom’s partner after they allegedly fought over steak, according to the DA’s office.
Middleboro man Andrew Horsman, 41, was arrested and charged with murder following the fatal stabbing Saturday night.
He’s charged with killing 66-year-old man Paul Pomerleau — who was in a long-term relationship with Horsman’s mother.
Horsman is accused of stabbing Pomerleau 17 times before pouring lighter fluid over his body.
They had been cooking steaks Saturday night, and they had an argument over the steaks, the Plymouth DA’s prosecutor said during Monday’s arraignment.
Horsman “without warning began stabbing him (Pomerleau) multiple times,” the prosecutor said in Wareham District Court.
A witness estimated that Horsman stabbed Pomerleau 12 to 20 times.
The victim was found with stab wounds all over his body — 10 wounds in his torso, five wounds in his back, and two in his arms. There was a significant amount of blood.
After he was stabbed 17 times, Pomerleau took a few steps before collapsing.
Horsman is then accused of pouring lighter fluid over Pomerleau’s body before another family member stepped in, leading to a struggle. Horsman then left the house.
Middleboro police officers responded after 8 p.m. on Saturday to a report of a fight and a man stabbed at 19 Fairview St.
First responders at the scene found Pomerleau suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported to Morton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
After interviewing witnesses, police determined that Horsman was the stabbing suspect. He was taken into custody near the residence without incident.

Witnesses at the scene told detectives that an argument at the home led to the stabbing.
Detectives then obtained an arrest warrant for Horsman, and they charged him with murder.
The prosecutor during the arraignment on Monday mentioned a family history of domestic violence and verbal altercations.
Horsman, the 41-year-old man, had moved back into the parents’ home, and Pomerleau reportedly did not want Horsman living there anymore. They would argue about that, according to the prosecutor.
On Monday, Horsman was held without bail after a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf.
