Red Sox lineups: Can Sox snap season-worst 6-game skid?
The Red Sox look to end a season-worst six-game losing streak on Saturday with Lucas Giolito, who’s been one of their most consistent starters in June, on the mound.
Since allowing seven earned runs on eight hits in just 1.2 innings on June 4, Giolito has yielded only two earned runs over his subsequent three starts, all quality outings.
He does, however, own a 5.29 ERA over nine career starts against the Blue Jays, with 29 earned runs allowed on 55 hits, including nine home runs, in 49.1 innings.
Toronto shut out Boston 9-0 in Friday’s contest, making the Red Sox 12-15 in series openers. The Red Sox were the last MLB team to not be shut out this year, until May 31 in Atlanta. They’ve since been shut out three times, including Friday.
