Vehicle fire breaks out in Ted Williams tunnel

A vehicle fire broke out in the Ted Williams tunnel early Monday, MassDOT reported, causing a backup of traffic on the way to Logan airport.

“In #Boston, Ted Williams Tunnel EB is closed due to vehicle fire,” MassDOT posted to X at about 11 a.m.

Just after noon, the transportation department reported all lanes were reopened in the tunnel.

Video shared by WCVB shows an Amazon truck engulfed in flames in the right lane of the tunnel as cars move past in the left lane and a tow truck arrived at the scene.
