Massachusetts man accused of assaulting man with brick outside ice cream shop
A Boston man is accused of assaulting a man with a brick outside a Revere ice cream shop, leaving the victim with severe injuries including facial fractures and a brain bleed, officials said.
Leonard Lomax, 33, who has a criminal history dating back 16 years, is facing several charges following the “vicious attack” last month.
The incident happened outside of Twist N’ Shake after 3:30 a.m. on May 4.
According to the Suffolk DA’s office, cameras showed two people — later identified as Lomax and 35-year-old Jeffery Satterwhite — kicking a vehicle outside the ice cream shop on Revere Beach Boulevard, causing damage to the car.
While the two men were kicking his car, the 33-year-old victim called 911. Lomax allegedly approached him with a brick in his hand. The victim then began to retreat, and begged for Lomax to drop the brick.
Satterwhite is seen driving away and parking on Shirley Avenue. He then allegedly approaches the victim from behind, and strikes him with an object believed to be a rock. The victim collapses and Satterwhite allegedly strikes him three more times.
“After Satterwhite disengages, Lomax is seen running toward the victim and striking him with what is believed to be a brick while the victim is on the ground,” the Suffolk DA’s office said.
The victim sustained orbital fractures, a skull fracture, and a brain bleed. He was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital.
A State Police trooper from the Metro Gang Unit viewed the surveillance video from Twist N’ Shake, and identified Lomax as one of the suspects.
Satterwhite was identified through his vehicle with the help of the License Plate Reader system and the surveillance footage. He will be arraigned at a later date.
The victim identified both Lomax and Satterwhite from a photo array.
“The facts here lay out a vicious attack that left the victim with serious external and internal injuries,” Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden said in a statement. “Our request for a dangerousness hearing and bail revocation was entirely justified given the sheer violence underlying these allegations.”

Lomax has been charged with assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (brick), and malicious destruction of property exceeding $1200.
Lomax also has an open case out of BMC Central for conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act. He has a criminal history dating back to 2009.
The judge released Lomax on personal recognizance, denying the prosecutor’s request that Lomax be held for a dangerousness hearing and that his bail be revoked on the pending case. Lomax is due back in court on July 23.
