Massachusetts State Police trooper ‘seriously injured’ by hit-and-run driver: Police
A trooper working a traffic stop was “seriously injured” by a hit-and-run driver on the Mass Pike Tuesday morning, according to police.
The Massachusetts State Police is seeking the public’s help in the investigation after the hit-and-run crash in Western Mass.
“Shortly after 2:20 a.m. this morning, a vehicle struck and seriously injured a Trooper working a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 90 west near exit 51 in Chicopee,” State Police said in a statement. “The operator did not remain on scene in the aftermath of the crash.”
State Police personnel assigned to Troop B and fire officials responded to the scene, closed all westbound lanes, and helped with the transport for the injured trooper via EMS to Baystate Medical Center — which is a level 1 trauma center.
Troopers assigned to the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
