Massachusetts State Police arrest chase suspect in backyard pool: MSP

Troopers chased after a suspect who later jumped in a backyard pool where she was arrested Monday morning, according to police.

State Police started the pursuit at around 8:20 a.m. when a trooper spotted a vehicle on I-495 south that was wanted by Northboro Police.

The driver allegedly tried to speed away from State Police, and the driver took the interchange from I-495 south to I-95 south.

Troopers then ended the pursuit when the driver got off I-95 at Exit 4B in Attleboro.

“A short time later, Attleboro Police and Troopers assigned to the Foxboro Barracks located the vehicle circling a nearby residential neighborhood,” State Police said in a statement.

“Eventually, the operator drove her car around a house on West Street, exited the vehicle, and jumped in an in-ground pool in the backyard where she was apprehended without injury or further incident,” police said.

The driver was identified as Shanna Tognarelli, 43, of Franklin. She was expected to be arraigned in Milford District Court.

Mass State Police also responded to a road rage incident Monday morning.

A person reported the incident on I-190 south before Exit 4 to State Police at around 8:20 a.m.

According to the report, the driver of a Ford F-250 allegedly pointed a gun at the reporting person and fired at their vehicle. State Police met the victim, who was not injured. Police spotted damage to their vehicle consistent with the gunshot report.

The victim provided a video to police, who identified the Ford F-250 and found the suspect on Sunrise Avenue in Grafton.

Troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Worcester County State Police Detective Unit, and Troop C apprehended the suspect without further incident.

The suspect was identified as Marcus Trujillo, 45, of Fitchburg. Charges will be forthcoming as the incident remains under investigation by the Worcester County State Police Detective Unit.
