Nikhil Ponnusamy and Sam Ren took No. 1 doubles (6-4, 6-2) to prove the difference for No. 13 Westford Academy (10-4) in a 3-2 win over No. 20 Lincoln-Sudbury in Div. 1 first-round action. Saunak Manna (6-1, 6-0) and Preet Mood (6-4, 6-1) also each won in No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.

Girls tennis

Evelyn Francis controlled play in No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1), and the doubles teams of Riley Florindo/Lan Tran and Julianna Frye/Yvonne Pina-Monteiro each gritted out tough matchups to power No. 32 Wareham (10-11) in a 4-1 Div. 3 preliminary win over No. 33 Groton-Dunstable.

Stella Zachos won her third singles matchup in three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-3) to secure a 3-2 Div. 2 first-round victory for No. 11 Oliver Ames (14-3) over No. 22 Holliston.
