Red Sox lineups: Kristian Campbell back, batting cleanup for series finale

Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell is back in the lineup after missing three games due to rib discomfort, and he’ll be right in the heart of the order.

Campbell is set to bat cleanup for the first time in his MLB career in Sunday’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins. Red Sox manager Alex Cora said pregame they liked the idea of getting his bat near the top of the lineup and suggested he could continue to hit there going forward.

“Just trying something different, putting all those at bats together is going to help,” Cora said. “I’m not saying this is the route we’re going, but probably we will.”

Garrett Crochet (3-2, 2.05 ERA) will take the mound for his eighth start of the season and is looking to follow up his last gem in Toronto where he allowed two runs over seven innings. The Twins will answer with right-hander Chris Paddack (0-3, 5.60).

Trevor Story is not in the lineup, with Cora saying pregame he wanted to give the slumping shortstop an extra day to reset with Monday’s off-day coming up. David Hamilton will start at shortstop in his place and Romy Gonzalez remains at first base.
