Patriots provide scouting reports on Day 2 2025 NFL Draft picks
FOXBORO — The Patriots added three speedy potential starts on offense Friday on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft in running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Kyle Williams and center Jared Wilson.
Executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf spoke to reporters Friday after the third round of the draft concluded and gave brief scouting reports on all three players.
On Henderson: “TreVeyon Henderson had a great career in high school. He’s a five-star running back coming out of Virginia. Continued on at Ohio State, started as a true freshman, played there for four years, extremely productive player, extremely good speed, pass protection, pass game. Although he’s a little bit undersized, we view him as a three-down back, just a really good compliment. He’s he’s a threat with the ball in his hands with the speed to take it the distance any time he touches the ball.”

On Williams: “Kyle Williams started his career at UNLV, ended up at Washington State, had a really productive junior year when Cam Ward was his quarterback there, and then he continued that on this year. Fast, can play outside and inside, really good with the ball in his hands. For an undersized guy, he’s really tough. He doesn’t shy away from anything, he can block, and just, you know, had the opportunity to visit with him on his 30 visit here, and he really has a great personality, and we’re excited about what he’s going to add to the room from that perspective.”
On Wilson: “Just a young, athletic offensive lineman. Has center-guard flex. Didn’t give up a sack all year this year. And his athletic ability is really what stands out about him.
Wolf said Henderson, Williams and Wilson all have the ability to compete for starting jobs since the Patriots have a clean slate with a new head coach in Mike Vrabel. The de facto general manager also said that there’s a possibility that Wilson could play left guard since the Patriots signed veteran center Garrett Bradbury this offseason.
Williams’ ability to beat man coverage, win off the line of scrimmage, accelerate and stem defenders at the top of his route stood out to the Patriots, according to Wolf.
Wolf also expounded on why he believes Henderson can be a three-down back at 5-foot-10, 202 pounds.
“Fom as far as a third-down standpoint, he’s a really good pass protector,” Wolf said. “He can run routes and catch the football, but he can also run inside. Like, he’s not like a grinder between the tackles, power runner, but he has good vision, hits the hole hard, he has good feet, and obviously has the speed to run outside. So we just feel like he has that toughness and versatility.”
The Patriots traded down from No. 77 overall to No. 85 and then again down to No. 95 overall, picking up the 146th overall pick and a 2026 fourth-rounder in return.
Wolf said that’s how the board fell for the Patriots, and there were instances when a player they wanted was selected before they were picking but that they also felt comfortable with a group of players that they had a feeling would still be available later. They ended up with Wilson after the two trades.
