We found the top hats for Easter

How do you like to celebrate Easter? For some, it’s an egg and candy hunt, or a spring walk outside with loved ones. For others it’s a church service with community. And let’s not forget the feast.

But Easter is also very much about hats.

Easter Sunday is definitely the day to wear a fancy one – so why not go for it?

Especially when there are so many fun creations out there like the Collection 18 Feather Flower Fascinator ($98 on dillards.com). Its hard headband construction and ethereal feathers are a one-two punch of style. Its pretty pale green hue is spring incarnate. Order it with rushed shipping and you’ll have it just in time for the holiday.

The same will be true of shipping if you order the Textured Extra-Wide Brim Dressy Hat by August Hats ($168 on macys.com) — or you can hop over to a local brick-and-mortar branch and buy one in person. The wide-brimmed hat comes in three colors (my favorites are the pale blue and the whisper-soft bone) and has a beautiful knitted and lacy covering that’s both a little dreamy and sophisticated.

Sophisticated is the calling card of Eugenia Kim, a designer line full of streamlined cloches, wide sun hats topped with floppy bows, and beautiful berets. You’ll find an array of them at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boston — like the line’s Ally Printed Satin Asymmetric Bucket Hat ($133.87 on saksfifthavenue.com), which has a sassy slanted style, a pretty brushstroke-print on satin material, and a bow that ties beneath your chin.

If pretty simplicity is the aesthetic you’re after, take a look at the Wyeth Extended Brim Straw Floppy Hat ($64 on anthropologie.com) — you can also buy one in person at Anthropologie stores in Dedham, Boston, Chestnut Hill, Natick, Hingham, Burlington, and other locations. Inspired by the Southern California style, it’s woven of natural raffia straw and is decorated with a lovely peach ribbon that crosses halfway through the wide brim and hangs down your shoulders.

Even more minimalist are straw hats that are a step up from your average beach topper, but still neutral enough to complement almost any Easter outfit. At Boston’s Crush Boutique you’ll find numbers like the Hat Attack Luxe Packable Sunhat in Bleach ($168 on shopcrushboutique.com) or in-person in the boutique on Beacon Hill. The shop stocks a number of like-minded styles, from fancier wide-brimmed lovelies to feminine bucket styles, all of which are versatile enough to wear long after the holiday wraps up.

And while you may not wear a festive hat every day, many are perfect for all kinds of special-occasion dressing in the upcoming months. Think: garden galas, graduation parties, and wedding season.
