Austria March 2025: Dacia Duster, Mazda CX-30 and MG ZS at all time high

The Dacia Duster is up to a record third place in Austria in March.

25,950 new cars hit Austrian roads in March, a tiny 1% year-on-year lift. The Q1 tally is up 4.4% to 66,017. The Top 5 brands all beat the market. Volkswagen (+5.3%) leads the way again at 13.8% share, followed by Skoda (+5.1%), BMW (+9.3%), Audi (+5.2%) and Dacia (+8.1%). Mercedes (-20%) is in complete freefall year-on-year but still manages a 6th place overall. Seat (-38.7%) fares even worse at #7 whereas Cupra surges another 82.3% to #8 and 4% share. This means the VW Group places five brands in the March Top 8. Below, BYD (+133.9%), Peugeot (+85.1%) and Opel (+82.9%) impress.

Model-wise, the VW Golf (-6.7%) is back in charge despite a year-on-year loss, although less daunting than the -24.5% of the Skoda Octavia at #2. The Octavia however keeps the YTD lead. Excellent performance of the Dacia Duster up four spots on last month to #3, the nameplate’s ranking record also hit in July 2022. The BMW X1 (+27%) is also strong at #4 whereas the Tesla Model Y freefalls -48.9% to #5. The next two models both break their ranking best: the Mazda CX-30 (+170.8%) is up to #6 vs. a previous best of #10 in October 2021 and the MG ZS (+52.1%) breaks into the Top 10 for the first time at #7 vs. a previous best of #17 last December. The new Cupra Terramar also excels at #9, the BYD Sealion signs its first Top 20 finish at #17 and the Renault 5 repeats at #18 and earns a spot inside the Q1 Top 20 as a result.
