QUINN CAPUTO

NEWTON NORTH

The senior captured the 200-IM at both the South Sectional and Division 1 State championships and was part of a winning 200-yard freestyle relay at the states. Caputo holds five individual school records as well as three relay records. A three-time Academic All-American with a 3.9 GPA, Caputo will continue his swimming career at Cornell University.

NICHOLAS CAVIC

SEEKONK

The team MVP for three straight seasons was undefeated in all individual events during the regular season and holds seven school records. Cavic was the South Sectional champion in the 100-yard butterfly, then won both the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle in the Division 2 State championship, setting a meet record in the 200. The Swimming Scholastic All-American and honor student will attend either the University of Tampa or the United States Naval Academy.

OWEN CURTIN

WESTFORD ACADEMY

The senior earned all-Dual County League honors after excelling in the 100-yard butterfly and was the Division 1 state champion in that event, posting a winning time of 51.74. The honor roll student is part of North Shore Swim Club year-round as a US-level team and a swimmer for Chelmsford Swim & Tennis in the summer for fun.

CAL HALE

BOSTON LATIN

The senior went undefeated in individual events during the regular season on his way to being named the Dual County League’s Foley Division Swimmer of the Year for the second time. Hale went on to win both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke at the North Sectional, then took second in the 50 at the Division 1 States. A member of the National Honor Society, Hale plans on swimming and studying economics and international politics at Middlebury.

VANN HOTCHKISS

NEEDHAM

The junior went undefeated during the season, then went on to set a meet record in the diving event at the South Sectionals. Hotchkiss captured the Division 1 State title for the third straight time. A Bay State Conference All-Star, Hotchkiss set a record at the league championship meet. A member of the National Honor Society, Hotchkiss plans to attend the United States Air Force Academy.

ALEX JYLKKA

WESTON

The senior qualified for three events at the states and went on to win the state title in the 100-yard freestyle. The Dual County League All-Star was the league champion in the 100-freestyle and took second in the 50-freestyle. An honors student, Jylkka will attend Syracuse.

BRANDON LIU

FRAMINGHAM

The senior was the sectional champion in the 100-yard breaststroke and took second in the 50-yard freestyle. A week later at the Division 1 States, Liu duplicated his winning performance in the 100-breaststroke. The USA Swimming Future Qualifier holds the school record in both the 50-freestyle and 100-breaststroke. In the offseason, Liu trains at Charles River Aquatics.

WILLIAM MULGREW

XAVERIAN

The senior was the Catholic Conference champion in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle. Mulgrew was a four-time winner at the South Sectionals, capturing the 200- and 500-freestyle as well as a pair of relays. A USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and member of the USA Swimming National Junior Team, the Harvard-bound standout wrapped up his season by winning the 200-freestyle and 500-freestyle at the Division 1 States.

LEO TRAN

SHARON

The sophomore was one of the top swimmers in the Hockomock League and produced in the postseason. Tran captured the 100-yard freestyle and placed third in the 200-yard freestyle at the South Sectional Meet and won the 100-yard freestyle and finished second in the 200-freestyle at the Division 1 State championships.

WAYLAND

200-FREESTYLE RELAY

AIDAN HUANG, ALEX LU, COLE SNYDER, LUKE KRONCKE

The quartet of Huang, Lu, Snyder and Kroncke won the North Sectional title in 200-freestyle relay, then came back a week later to repeat their performance in the Division 2 state championships.

Huang, a member of the National Honor Society, was a three-time Dual County League All-Star and ended his career fourth on the school’s all-time list for points with 1,372. Snyder is a league All-Star and honors student, who trains at both Charles River Aquatics and Wayland Swim & Tennis Club.

Lu finished seventh in the state in the 100-yard breaststroke and also plays varsity tennis. Kroncke placed seventh in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle at the states.

WAYLAND

200-MEDLEY RELAY

BRADY FOLEY, ALEX LU, PETER MORRIS, LUKE KRONCKE

The foursome of Foley, Lu, Morris and Kroncke emerged as the North Sectional and Division 2 State champions. They capped off a great season by winning the state title in a time nearly six seconds faster than they accomplished at the Dual County League championships.

Foley was a two-time DCL All-Star who took a fifth in the 100-yard backstroke at the state championship. An honor roll student, Foley will swim at Roger Williams University. Morris was the leading point scorer on the team and was the DCL champion in both the 200-freestyle and 500-freestyle. An honors student, Morris will swim at Bates College.

Lu is a two-time DCL All-Star and a three-time state qualifier, while Kroncke has qualified for states in both his freshman and sophomore year.

ST. JOHN’S PREP

400-FREESTYLE RELAY

BRENDAN TITLEY, PORTER MULGREW, MATTHEW CHURCH, WESLEY ROSS

The team consisting of Titley, Mulgrew, Church and Ross captured the Division 1 State title in the 400-freestyle, navigating the pool in a winning time of 3:12.75.

Titley was a two-time individual champion at the North Sectionals and also placed second in the 100-yard freestyle at the States. The freshman made the Head of School List. Mulgrew broke a school-record in 500-yard freestyle at the States, finishing second overall and also made the Head of School List.

Church competed in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle and competed in the Eastern Zone Sectionals. A recipient of the Congressional Award Gold Medal, Harvard Book Award and Award of Academic Excellence, Church will study computer science at Colby. Ross placed in the top four in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle at the State meet. He is a member of the National and Spanish Honor Societies.
