Colombia March 2025: BYD breaks share record, places Yuan Up and Seagull in Top 20
First Colombian Top 20 finish for the BYD Seagull.
New vehicle sales in Colombia surge 37.4% year-on-year in March to 18,361 units. Keep in mind March 2024 was down -22.6% on the year prior which itself was off -17.2% on March 2022. The Q1 tally is up 22.9% to 49,874. Renault (+56%) reclaims the lead it holds year-to-date with 14.1% share, distancing last month’s leader Kia (+148.9%) in outstanding shape. Toyota (-14%) suffers at #3, distancing Chevrolet (+3.5%) and Mazda (+15.2%) both trailing the market. Hyundai (+139.6%), Suzuki (+73.5%) and Volkswagen (+46%) also shine in the remainder of the Top 10 but once again it’s BYD (+500.7%) that lodges the best performance in market, up two spots on February to #9 and 4.5% share, equalling its ranking record and achieving a new all time high share.
The Toyota Corolla Cross (+0.3%) is back up seven spots on February to #1, the nameplate’s 2nd win this year. However the Renault Duster (+37.6%), down to #2 this month, holds onto the Q1 top spot. The Mazda CX-30 (-1.2%) is actually down but still manages a third place. The Kia Picanto (+112.9%) and Chevrolet Onix (+77.9%) both post stellar gains while the new Renault Kardian rallies back up four ranks on last month to #6, a ranking it also holds YTD. BYD places the Yuan Up at #10 and the Seagull at #16, the latter’s first incursion in the country’s Top 20.
