Russia March 2025: Market implodes -45.5%, Solaris in Top 10
The Solaris HC is a Hyundai Creta.
The Russian new car market continues to freefall in March at a daunting -45.5% year-on-year to just 79,822 units. The Q1 tally is off -25.3% to 246,934. Lada (-36.9%) falls slower than its home market and improves its share to 31.5%. Haval (-39%) and Chery (-36.1%) also see their share go up year-on-year to close out the podium. Geely (-65.8%) and Changan (-59.4%) both crater. Belgee (-11.1%) resists very well in context and reaches a record 6th place also hit last October and November. Jetour (-21.2%) and Jaecoo (-16.8%) also post solid results given the market drop.
Russian brand Solaris makes its first appearance inside the Top 10 at #10, exactly one year after entering the market. AGR Automotive Group (formerly Volkswagen Group Rus) launched the Solaris brand in March 2024, making Hyundai Motor Group models after HMG left. AGR acquired the former Hyundai plant in St Petersburg in January 2024. The Solaris HS is a Hyundai Solaris, the HC is a Hyundai Creta, the KRS is a Kia Rio and the KRX a Kia Rio X.
Over in the models charts, the Lada Granta (-42.9%) easily keeps the lead at 13.4% share, followed by the Lada Vesta (-35.6%). The Top 6 is unchanged on last month and Q1, with the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (-34.4%) resisting best, the Haval Jolion (-37.9%) gaining share year-on-year bit the Lada Niva Legend (-47.9%) and Niva Travel (-46.8%) in trouble. The Haval M6 (-42%) reappears inside the Top 10 while the Lada Largus (+6550%) soars on tiny year-ago volumes.
